Relocating to the Charleston Metro

Each year, more than four million people visit Charleston because of its world-class shopping, dining, history, charm and, of course, the beautiful beaches. Not only is Charleston a great place to visit, but it’s also a great place to live and work.

The Chamber works collaboratively with regional partners and members to advance the quality of life and economic development for the benefit of all citizens living, working and visiting the region.

The Tri-County Area

Comprised of three counties – Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester – the Charleston region is a highly diverse market, strategically located on the Atlantic coast half-way between New York and Miami. The region, which covers more than 3,100 square miles (8,192 kilometers), combines a thriving economy, rich history and breathtaking environment to offer an outstanding business climate and a quality of life that is second to none.

To help people moving to the Charleston Region (and perhaps the U.S.) for the first time, the Charleston Regional Development Alliance has created an online Charleston | SC Relocation Guide full of links providing new residents a one-stop regional snapshot.

Included Information:

  • Community info: Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties
  • Education Resources: K-12 and higher education
