Novant Health is expanding access to women’s healthcare in the Lowcountry with the opening of its new Center for Women’s Health at East Cooper Medical Center. Chamber team members joined healthcare leaders, elected officials and community partners on June 11 to celebrate the facility’s opening during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Located on the East Cooper Medical Center campus in Mount Pleasant, the approximately 40,000-square-foot facility brings a wide range of women’s healthcare services together under one roof, creating a more convenient, coordinated experience for patients throughout the Lowcountry.
The new center is home to obstetrics and gynecology, breast care, mammography, urogynecology, breast surgery and diagnostic services, making it easier for women to access routine, preventive and specialized care in one location. Patient appointments officially began on June 22.
The Center for Women’s Health represents another significant investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure as Novant Health continues expanding access to high-quality care across the Lowcountry.
“Healthcare is something we often take for granted until we need it, but it’s one of the most important factors in why people choose to live and work in a community,” said Kevin Sheilley, president and CEO of the Charleston Metro Chamber. “Access to outstanding healthcare improves quality of life for residents while also serving as a major economic driver. Healthcare organizations create jobs, attract talent and help support the long-term growth and success of our region. Investments like this strengthen our community in many ways.”
