Support Foster Families in May: Simple Ways to Make a Big Impact

May is National Foster Care Month, and we’re reaching out to ask for your help in shining a light on some of our community’s most selfless heroes — foster parents.

Foster parents make a profound difference in a child’s life. At a time when youth are most vulnerable, they step in to offer stability, love, and safety. Their presence can truly impact the long-term outcomes for children and teens in care.

Here’s why these matters:
Foster youth are 7 times more likely to experience depression than their peers.
They’re 5 times more likely to face anxiety.
And they’re twice as likely to experience PTSD as military veterans.

But when a caring adult opens their heart and home, it can change that trajectory. Foster families help break cycles, build trust, and give youth hope — sometimes for the very first time.

This May, we’re inviting businesses like yours to help us celebrate these families and raise awareness about the need for more foster parents in our community.

How Your Business Can Get Involved:
✅ Post our Foster Parent Appreciation Badge on your Facebook page — we’ll supply the image and caption. Pin it to the top of your page for maximum impact.
🎥 Record a short thank-you video (15–30 seconds) recognizing foster families. Blue is the color representing this important month, so deck your team in blue and let’s send a message pf appreciation. We’ll help promote it on our social media and invite you to post it along with the badge.
🏡 Display a yard sign or poster at your business location to show your support throughout the month of May.
💌 Celebrate employees who foster, highlight a foster family you know, or include a thank-you message in your company newsletter.
Use hashtags like #BecomeANYAPFosterParent and #NationalFosterParentAppreciation to join the movement and show your heart for the community.

Every gesture — no matter how small — sends a powerful message of gratitude to families who are helping rewrite the stories of children in care.
