Cam Jackson’s work in chamber membership centers on a the idea that the better you understand a business, the better you can help it get value from being part of a chamber.
It is an approach he has developed over years of working directly with business owners and leaders, and one that recently earned him recognition from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives for his success in membership sales.
For Cam, the achievement is less about the number of memberships sold and more about the relationships behind them.
“A lot of what I know about chamber work came from my time at the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce,” Jackson said. “That’s where I learned how important it is to really serve the community, get to know businesses, the people you’re working with, and someone they know they can reach out to for help.”
Cam spent much of his chamber career in Alabama, where he built his experience in membership and developed a deeper understanding of how chambers can serve businesses at different stages and with different needs.
A Citadel graduate, Cam returned to Charleston and joined the Charleston Metro Chamber team earlier this year, bringing that experience back to a community he already knew well.
“This recognition means a lot to me because it represents a lot of years of working with businesses, leaders, entrepreneurs and organizations, while building strong relationships along the way,” Jackson said. “I’ve always enjoyed connecting with people, understanding their goals and showing how the chamber provides opportunities and resources to help them succeed.”
Senior Vice President of Membership and Corporate Partnerships Justin Lee said Jackson’s track record is significant, but the way he approaches the work is equally important.
“Cam has built an incredible track record, and this recognition is well deserved,” Lee said. “He takes the time to understand what a business is working toward and aligns them with opportunities through membership that supports our members’ needs. That experience is a real benefit to our members and our team.”
Now back in Charleston, Jackson is focused on getting to know the businesses that make up the region and becoming a familiar point of contact for members as they navigate opportunities, challenges and growth.
“Getting the chance to come back here has been special for me,” Jackson said. “I’m excited to get to know more businesses and professionals across the region and become someone they can rely on when they have a question, need an introdcution or want to talk through what the chamber can offer. ”
The ACCE recognition reflects what Jackson has already accomplished over the course of his chamber career. For the Charleston Metro Chamber, it also speaks to the experience members now have working on their behalf. As Cam settles back into Charleston, his focus is on building relationships across the region and helping businesses get more from their connection to the Chamber.
