The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is excited to introduce the Managers Institute, a brand-new leadership program launching in 2025. This program is designed to fill a critical gap in leadership development, focusing specifically on equipping both emerging and experienced managers with the essential skills needed to navigate the complexities of team leadership.
“We are thrilled to introduce our newest program addition under the Leadership Center, the Managers Institute,” says Therese Gordon, Associate Vice President of the Leadership Center. “Whereas most of our current programs are focused on enhancing our members’ leadership skills and developing civic-minded future leaders through community-centered education and real-world leadership experience, the Managers Institute is our first program designed to equip both emerging and experienced managers with the essential skills needed to navigate the complexities of team leadership.”
A Data-Driven Approach to Leadership
Led by Mike Mosel, founder and CEO of Pelarity, the Managers Institute will focus on equipping managers with the skills and knowledge needed to lead high-performing teams and address the opportunities and challenges that come accompany a manager’s role. With over 20 years of experience in leadership and behavioral science, Mike has dedicated his career to studying, teaching and applying these principles to help businesses optimize their talent and drive success.
The program will utilize the PI Behavioral Assessment to reveal participants’ strengths, weaknesses and work styles. “The program offers the guidance and tools necessary to develop stronger, more capable managers. Participants will leave ready to inspire, elevate and lead their teams with greater impact,” says Gordon.
Program Details and Curriculum
The Managers Institute will run from March 25 to May 20, 2025, with a mix of in-person and virtual sessions held each Tuesday. The curriculum consists of five key modules, covering:
- Self-Awareness
- Managing Others
- Team Dynamics
- Fundamentals of Organizational Culture
- Leadership Framework: Understanding Three Key Styles of Leadership
Participants will receive direct feedback on their leadership challenges, gaining insights and strategies to overcome obstacles and optimize their teams.
A New Look to Leadership Development
The Managers Institute is part of the Chamber’s Leadership Center, a newly structured initiative designed to provide a clear, guided pathway for leadership development.
“The Leadership Center is the comprehensive resource for Chamber members seeking high-quality leadership development programs,” says Gordon. “Designed for professionals at all career stages, from emerging leaders to experienced executives, our programs focus on practical skills, hands-on experience and meaningful community connections.”
