The Charleston Metro Chamber Political Action Committee proudly announces its latest slate of endorsements for the upcoming SC House 113 Special Primary Election on January 21. Democratic candidates are vying for a nomination that will have no Republican opponent on the ballot come March 25.
Candidates were vetted through a questionnaire and interview process to determine their alignment with the business community.
Endorsed candidates have strong alignment with the Chamber’s key policy priorities and a strong vision for the future of their district, while qualified candidates demonstrate an ability to serve effectively if elected or re-elected.
Endorsed: Courtney Waters – D
Courtney Waters is a former member of the Charleston County School District Board of Trustees and a resident of North Charleston. She has a background in education, advocacy and sales. Currently, Courtney serves as the Executive Director of Teach for America and works to support a number of issues across the state concerning education and workforce development.
Qualified: Michelle Brandt – D
Michelle Brandt is a current community organizer and has leadership experience with the South Carolina Democratic Party. She currently serves as the 3rd Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party and Commissioner of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission. Michelle has been heavily involved in and supportive of the Charleston Metro Chamber, including serving on the Regional Housing Committee and participating in the Civic Leaders Academy.
The Chamber PAC thanks each candidate for their willingness to serve in higher office and looks forward to working with the next State House Representative for District 113.
