In Case You Missed It: Member-Bration 2023 Commemorates 250 Years of the Chamber and Members

Earlier this month, over 300 Chamber members and business leaders turned The Shed Downtown into a celebration of Charleston’s business community.

Member-Bration, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, included unforgettable performances by Willy the Hip Hop Drummer, The Masker Band, Voices of Deliverance, The Dance Space, Christie Bates and Dr. Tonya M. Matthews.

It’s not easy to fit all our regions cultures and traditions under one roof, but with the help of talented craftsmen, attendees got hands-on with some time-honored traditions. Henrietta Snype, The Lee Brothers and Kristy Bishop shared their knowledge and expertise in sweetgrass basket weaving, how to make the perfect boiled peanut and indigo dying, while Stephen Popadich captured the essence of the evening on canvas and Smile N Pose 360 captured the digital memories. In addition, the International Africa American Museum provided attendees insight into their newly opened space in downtown Charleston.

What’s a celebration without incredible food and libations? Wild Dunes, Rodney Scott Whole Hog BBQ, Duvall Catering, Rosemary & Rye Catering and Lowcountry Oyster Co. provided small plates of both traditional and spins on traditional lowcountry culinary staples, while Firefly Distillery supplied specialty cocktails featuring their Bend & Steal American Whiskey while Commonhouse Aleworks served up their White Point Lager in specially designed Chamber 250 cans.

Although great entertainment, experiences, food and drink help make a celebration enjoyable, the heart of this celebration was the 1,600+ organizations and 160,000+ members that allow the Chamber to do work that helps our business community prosper.
