Some of the most meaningful recognition comes from the people who see your work every day.

Every workplace has people others naturally turn to. They’re the first to volunteer, the ones with an answer when something goes sideways or the co-worker who quietly makes everyone else’s job a little easier. The Chamber’s new Rising Star Award was created to recognize those people, with recipients selected through nominations from their peers.

This quarter, two team members stood out in the eyes of their colleagues. Andrew Paskey, Accounting Manager, and Nicole Hodges, Member Experience Coordinator, have been named the Chamber’s first Rising Star Award recipients.

“A hallmark of the Charleston Metro Chamber is our incredible team. They show up every day ready to make a difference for our members and our community,” said Chamber President and CEO Kevin Sheilley. “Andrew and Nicole are great examples of the excellence on this team. They demonstrate a strong commitment to our organization’s mission and collaboration. I am excited we are able to recognize them as our first Rising Star recipients.”

If you ask Andrew’s co-workers what makes him stand out, the answer is remarkably consistent. He’s the person people turn to when they need help solving a problem, untangling a technical challenge or figuring out a better way to get something done. Colleagues describe him as dependable, approachable and generous with his time, always willing to jump in regardless of whether a task falls within his job description. From improving internal processes to supporting major reporting efforts, Andrew’s behind-the-scenes contributions help keep the Chamber moving forward.

For Nicole, the common thread is service. Co-workers repeatedly pointed to the way she makes both members and teammates feel welcomed, supported and valued. Whether she’s helping onboard a new employee, answering a member’s question or stepping in to assist another department, Nicole brings the same thoughtful approach to every interaction. Her willingness to share knowledge, adapt to changing priorities and help wherever she’s needed has made her a trusted resource and an important part of the Chamber’s culture.
