Where Business and Policy Met to Kick Off 2026

The South Carolina Aquarium was full for a reason.

Legislative Reception 2026, presented by Roper St. Francis Healthcare, brought together Chamber members and elected officials for an evening that set the tone for a pivotal year ahead. From candid conversations to new connections, the energy reflected a shared commitment to shaping South Carolina’s economic future.

For those in attendance, it was a valuable opportunity to engage directly with lawmakers at the start of the legislative session and preview the Chamber’s 2026 Legislative Agenda.

Where Business and Policy Connect

The Legislative Reception gives members something that is not easy to find: early, direct access to decision-makers before the year fully accelerates. It is where relationships are built, perspectives are shared and priorities are discussed face to face, not through headlines or hearings.

That energy matters. Starting the year in the same room with decision makers, fellow business leaders and community partners creates momentum that carries forward into the legislative session. It reinforces the Chamber’s role as a trusted convener and ensures the business community’s voice is present from day one.

A Legislative Agenda Focused on Competitiveness

The Chamber’s 2026 Legislative Agenda centers on five priority areas that support growth, workforce participation and long-term economic strength:

  • Affordable Dependent Care to expand workforce participation through dedicated funding and state tax credits
  • SCDOT Modernization to accelerate project delivery, strengthen infrastructure and ensure local voices are included
  • Competitive Communities that support responsible growth, workforce development and smart planning
  • Military Protection to safeguard installations and critical infrastructure while supporting compatible industries
  • Housing Supply and Stability through modernization of the state’s Private Activity Bond system

The agenda also advances key insurance reforms that promote a fair, predictable environment for businesses and consumers alike.

Momentum Moving Forward

Annually, the Legislative Reception signals more than a kickoff to the year. It signals what is possible when the business community shows up, is engaged and aligned.

Thank you to our members, elected officials and sponsors who were there to shape the conversations. The kind of conversations that define the year ahead.
