The Advocates: Chamber PAC Announces Endorsements for North Charleston Special Election

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee is excited to announce its endorsement decisions for the upcoming special election on North Charleston City Council. The candidates endorsed below have been closely vetted through the Chamber PAC. 

Endorsed candidates have strong alignment with the Chamber’s key policy priorities and strong vision for the future of their district. 

Qualified candidates demonstrate an ability to serve effectively if elected or re-elected. 

Endorsed Candidates:

North Charleston City Council – District 3

Maurice Ray – A North Charleston native and small business owner, Mr. Ray is deeply connected to the North Charleston community. After serving over 14 years in the United States Navy, he returned to North Charleston to open his business and has been involved in supporting community development. Mr. Ray’s platform includes supporting first responders, improving roads and bridges and increasing transparency in government.  

North Charleston City Council – District 5 

Katesha Breland – Ms. Breland was born and raised in Charleston, where she has worked for over 25 years in the real estate industry. She was a past president of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors and a 2022 graduate of the Civic Leaders Academy program. Ms. Breland’s platform includes community revitalization, enhancing public safety and improving quality of life.  

The Chamber PAC looks forward to supporting both these candidates in their upcoming elections on Tuesday, May 27. Please visit scvotes.gov to confirm polling locations and early voting dates.
